Frequently asked questions
Why might my IP address change?
Most residential and business internet connections use a dynamic IP assigned by your ISP via DHCP. It can change when your router restarts or after a DHCP lease expires. Businesses needing a stable inbound address typically request a static IP from their ISP or use a VPN/SD-WAN solution.
Is my public IP the same as my device's local IP?
No. Your local (private) IP, such as 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, is assigned by your router and is not visible on the public internet. Your public IP is the address your router presents to external servers, and it is shared by all devices on your network.
