Frequently asked questions
How accurate is IP geolocation?
IP geolocation is approximate. At the country level it is typically accurate. At the city level, accuracy varies widely, a commercial ISP's IP may resolve to a city hub rather than the end user's actual location. Corporate and cloud provider IPs often resolve to a data center or regional POP, not the organization's physical office.
What does the ASN or Org field show?
The ASN (Autonomous System Number) and organization field identify the network operator that owns the IP block, usually an ISP, cloud provider (AWS, Azure, Cloudflare), or large enterprise. This is useful for identifying whether an IP belongs to a cloud exit node, corporate proxy, or residential connection.
